AIM
CRISPR genome editing is transforming biomedical research by enabling precise genomic modifications across various cell types and organisms; its applications span from basic research to clinical settings. Do you have limited experience with the CRISPR technique and would like to learn if it might be applicable to your research? Or do you want to use this technology in your research but don’t know how? If so, the CRISPR course is there for you! You will learn the fundamental concepts, alongside experimental design and applications. Through lectures and interactive discussions, we will demystify the steps required to use common CRISPR applications. Assignments will provide practical experience with different CRISPR tools. National and international experts will share insights on topics such as large-scale screening, in vitro and in vivo disease models, and therapeutic applications. Furthermore, by joining students from the Oncology graduate school (OOA), you will get exposed to the uses of CRISPR in different research fields, and meet fellow graduate students from a different field.
FORMAT
The course has a dynamic format; it includes lectures from experts in the CRISPR field, two small practical courses on how to design CRISPRs for knockout and knock-in studies, and group assignments on how to use CRISPR for novel applications. Note that it’s a joint course with the OOA, so oncology topics will also be discussed.
CONTENTS
The following topics will be covered during the course:
- Introduction to CRISPR
- How to make a knock-out
- How to make a knock-in
- CRISPR gene editing in iPSCs
- Editing a base using CRISPR
- CRISPR-based screening
- Clinical applications of CRISPR
Upon completion, you will have a solid understanding of CRISPR genome editing basics, experiment design, and the diverse applications of CRISPR technology. This knowledge will allow you to advance your research project.
